The integration course with literacy training, comprising 1,000 or 1,300 teaching hours, is aimed at migrants who have no or insufficient knowledge of the Latin alphabet or their own alphabet and therefore require special (written) language and methodological didactic support at the beginning of the language acquisition process. The literacy course aims to come as close as possible to the goal of functional literacy for participants while at the same time acquiring German language skills at the elementary level. These goals are served by a consistently participant-oriented methodology that also takes social, intercultural and psychological goals into account, as well as teaching characterised by internal differentiation and methods that promote openness and learner autonomy. The 100-hour orientation course is an integral part of the integration course with literacy training and serves to impart knowledge of the legal system, culture and history of Germany. The orientation course covers the topics of politics in democracy, history and responsibility, and people and society. The integration course with literacy training concludes with the two scaled final tests German Test for Immigrants (DTZ) and Living in Germany (LiD).
